Selecting the Operating System Right for Your Needs

Once you have selected the appropriate server hardware to fit your needs, the next step is selecting which operating system to use.

Choosing the right operating system is an important part of the process as it is the crucial software that is going to manage your computer’s resources, control and allocate your computer’s memory, prioritize system requests, control input and output devices, facilitate computer networking, and manage files.

Superb Hosting offers several different operating systems including Linux/Unix-based operating systems and Microsoft Windows based operating systems. The particular operating system or family (Linux or Microsoft Windows) that you choose is going to be wholly dependent on your eventual use of the server. You can always make a request if you need an operating system not on this list.

Note: For Linux users, we do recommend CentOS.
