Server Load Balancing

Load Balancing

When you need near 100% high availability and reliability, plus enhanced network performance, we suggest server load balancing.

Load Balancing Basics

Our Server Load Balancing solutions will load-balance your port/protocol (HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, database, etc.) across two or more servers, according to your exact specifications. The load can be evenly or unevenly balanced (depending on server specifications and capabilities). One server may be live while the other server functions as a failover. Or, you can have a group of live servers plus a separate group of failover servers. The possibilities are nearly endless!

We offer two Server Load Balancing solutions: one for all services (other than HTTPS/SSL) and one especially encrypted for HTTPS/SSL, where the encryption and decryption is securely accelerated and handled at the load balancer side.

Dedicated server customers who have two or more servers can take advantage of our Load Balancing Solution. Best of all, there is no single point of failure-our Load Balancing Solution includes a fully redundant, multiple load balancer set-up.

  • Acceleration Algorithms Supported

    Fastest response
    Least connections
    Round robin
    Weighted round robin

  • Persistence Methods Utilized

    Cookies
    Sticky connections
    Header match rules

  • Server Failure Detection

Layer 7 via active content verification (ACV Probing)
Layer 4 via ICMP and TCP health check.

  • Fault Tolerance

Full system-level redundancy with all servers behind 2 load balancers

  • Management

Your load balancing solution is fully managed by our load balancing specialists, who will help you set up and manage your solution.

Benefits of load balancing include:

  • Greater Peace of Mind
You don't have to worry that a press release or unanticipated media coverage will bring down your site.
  • Improved User Experience
Faster load times reduce customer frustration and web site abandonment.
  • Improved Scalability
Ability to add additional capacity quickly and easily if needed.
  • Geographic Redundancy
Ability to deliver content based on geographic proximity.
