The Systems Engineer must be an excellent communicator, an effective team leader & player, have the ability to multi-task, possess excellent client interaction skills, be detail oriented, assertive, an excellent and tenacious problem solver and have the ability to excel with minimal supervision.

The Systems Engineer will be involved in the architecture, implementation, and support of both shared and dedicated hosting services including web, email, DNS, monitoring, and others.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing services in the web hosting industry along with an understanding of the future technologies that will be required to remain competitive in the industry.

Requirements:
  • 3+ years experience with Linux, FreeBSD;
  • 3+ years in large shared production environments;
  • Solid experience and strong ability to work with x86-based server hardware;
  • Experience administering and optimizing mySQL and MS SQL Database servers;
  • Expertise with Apache setup and configuration with PHP, performance tuning and log file management;
  • Solid Perl, Python,and/or Bash shell scripting ability;
  • Experience with using virtualization in a production environment (Xen, KVM);
  • Experience building highly available web hosting architectures including data replication and failover;
  • Direct experience with high volume, highly available email architectures (including Sendmail, Qmail, Exim, Postfix, Dovecot, SpamAssassin);
  • Ability to travel (25% travel to USA mainland per year);
  • Additional desired skills: Windows Server, Solaris/ZFS, Load Balancers, DNS, LDAP, IDS, VPS, Cloud Orchestration, InfiniBand, server monitoring (Nagios, Zabbix), server configuration automation (Puppet, Chef, Ansible).

We are currently seeking a PHP Developer that will play an important role in maintaining current applications and developing exciting new applications to grow our business.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate and work with a team of 3-4 developers and 1-2 systems administrators;
  • Design and maintain the internal systems and hardware required for the in-house development team;
  • Full stack development, from database development to JS/CSS frontend.
  • Collaborate with the team leaders, other discipline managers, vendors, contractors and clients to make sure development activity is meeting company objectives;

  • Experience with Front End development (jQuery, Backbone.js, HTML, JSON, XML, HTML5 a plus)
  • Familiarity with database development (query optimizing, indexing, schema optimization, sharding, partitioning, replication, etc).
  • Extra points for NoSQL DB experience (MongoDB, Riak, Cassandra, Hadoop, etc).
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced, team-development environment is critical; Agile development experience preferred.
  • Additional expertise with non-common technologies a big plus;
  • Considerable real-world experience working within a LAMP development environment;
