What is VPS?

VPS stands for virtual private server. Essentially you are getting access to your own customizable slice of a powerful server, which allows you to load any app your desire and customize the operating system to fit your needs.

VPS Hosting is when one physical server is partitioned into multiple servers. Each one of these servers has the appearance and capabilities (with its own allocated resourced) as it if were running its own dedicated server. VPS is the most economical way to get "guaranteed" resources for your web hosting environment.

What is Burstable RAM?

Burstable RAM is your allotted "burst" of RAM beyond your guaranteed RAM that is available to you when needed. Should you require your loads to spike higher than your guarantees, as long as the resources are available, you will have access up to your burst level.

*Burstable RAM is not the same thing as your Guaranteed RAM. You cannot count on constant, sustained utilization of your burst resources. If your VPS constantly requires greater resources than your package guarantees, then you must upgrade to the higher VPS or Dedicated Hosting plan.

What kind of support is provided?

All new plans receive 30 days of unlimited free support. We have found that most of our customers major concerns fall within the first month, so we make sure we are there for you when you need it most.

What are Managed Services?

Our Managed Services are designed for you to customize your VPS to fit your hosting needs. These services provided for additional security, superior backup and proactive monitoring. It is simply a service that makes managing your VPS hosting solution that much easier.

Patches and updates (Linux and Windows)

Our Patching & Updates service eliminates the hassle of keeping your server up-to-date with the latest OS security updates by checking for available patches and deploying them as appropriate. This service protects your server against exploits, viruses, worms and trojans.

OS Hardening (Linux and Windows)

Our OS Hardening service addresses security weaknesses in operating systems by deactivating unnecessary programs and following newly released procedures and strategies to reduce malicious attacks and system downtime. OS Hardening minimizes your VPS' exposure to current and future threats by configuring the operating system to be as secure as possible.

Proactive Monitoring (Linux and Windows)

Our Proactive Monitoring is an enterprise-class monitoring solution for your VPS that includes continual monitoring of specified ports on your behalf. In the event a service disruption is detected, you will receive a notification regarding the failure. Our Proactive Monitoring solution will automatically attempt to restart the affected service on your VPS, thereby reducing any inconvenience caused by program crashes. In addition to monitoring your ports, you have access to real-time monitoring of your server's performance-which includes CPU usage, memory usage, and the average load.

Managed Backup (Windows VPS only)

We protect your data with Superb's Managed Backup service for your Windows VPS. Our Managed Backup solution is powered by R1Soft's Continuous Data Protection (CDP) technology, which means the latest version of your data is always protected. Never fear crashes again.

Do you offer backup?

Yes. As a courtesy, we provide a backup image of your system that is conducted on a weekly basis. For a more comprehensive solution, we offer backup packages that give you multiple images with backups conducted on a daily basis. Here is how the backup options breakdown:

Managed Backup (Windows VPS only)

We protect your data with Superb's Managed Backup service for your Windows VPS. Our Managed Backup solution is powered by R1Soft's Continuous Data Protection (CDP) technology, which means the latest version of your data is always protected. Never fear crashes again.

Backup (Linux VPS only)

All Linux plans come with a couple of backup options.

On-Demand Backup:
all Linux VPS plans are allocated one free on-demand backup. This option will delete the oldest running backup while running the new. This is backup is saved at remotely at our data centers.

Additional Backup:
any additional backups can be run from the On-Demand at a cost of $1/GB

Quick Backup:
from the SolusVM control panel you are able to backup directly to your allotted disk space. You are free to keep as many backups that your disk space will allow.

What if I need my account restored?

We are able to pull from our own backups taken weekly. This service is $90 per incident.

Can I upgrade my VPS plan later?

Yes, you can perform a resize in myCP® at any time-you don't even need to reinstall everything. We take your VPS down, expand the CPU, RAM, and disk, then start it back up.

Do you offer an SLA?

Can I order additional storage or bandwidth?

Yes. You can order additional disk space in increments of 10GB on any plan. For additional traffic, you may order additional bandwidth in increments of 1000GB. For the best value, you may upgrade your VPS plan at any time.

Where are your data centers located?

We currently have three data centers located on the west coast and east coast. One in Seattle, WA (SEA2) and two in the DC area: McLean, VA (DCA2) and Springfield, VA (DCA3). Our VPS servers utilize SEA2 and DCA2.

Can you register/transfer domain names for me?

Yes. We can register/transfer your domain names through Superb Registrar.

Do you have a control panel?

Superb provides our proprietary, easy-to-use control panel, myCP®, with all VPS plans to manage your account, billing and tickets. Within myCP® you will have access to your VPS control panel where you are able to manage your IP addresses, reboots, and OS reinstallations. Additionally, cPanel and Plesk control panels are can be added to your order when buying VPS.

How many domains can I host on my VPS plans?

As you would with a dedicated server, you may host an unlimited number of domains on your VPS hosting plan.

Can I buy additional IPs?

Yes. All VPS plans come with 2 IPs. Additional IPs are available for just $2 per month.
