Chaptercheats: Case Study, one of the largest online repositories of cheats and walkthroughs for games for all platforms, was established in late 1999. Eelco de Frankrijker, ChapterCheats Founder, says: “We saw the need for an online game cheat central, as gaming consoles progressed to include PlayStation and Playstation 2, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Personal Computers, and Gameboy, yet there were no good websites available to help gamers. I started ChapterCheats as a way to take the knowledge I had gained and help my friends get the hints they needed to complete their gaming.”

The Technology Challenge

Around 2010 ChapterCheats noticed a significant increase in its traffic and the service that they had at another provider just wasn't able to keep up with their growth. ChatperCheats contacted Superb Internet because they liked the idea of being able to run the server for themselves and because of the unique Lease to Own program offered only by Superb, delivering significant savings to clients who own their server after one year and only pay the much lower colocation fee as of month 13 and on. ChapterCheats' initial order was for a Dual Xeon E5520 2.6Ghz SuperMicro server.

After the initial consultation, ChatperCheats signed up for the Managed Services Package and were immediately contacted by one of the Professional Services Technicians to discuss the purpose of the server, how secure the server needed to be, backups, patches and updates, and any upgrades or other services needed on the server. Within the first 24 hours of the server setup they found themselves with issues with the transfer of the domain names to be hosted. “We thought we wouldn't have any issues with transferring the current websites we were operating to the new server, so we didn't sign up for any kind of migration package. What we quickly realized was we were in over our heads and asked for assistance. The Professional Services Team asked us for a list of domain names and login credentials, and within 2 hours, all of our domains, data, and databases we're transferred over to the new server.”, says Eelco de Frankrijker.

Over the next couple of years things progressed smoothly with the server and all Patches and Updates, Security Scans and Updates, and Backups were completed on schedule and without any issues. As new gaming consoles were rolled out and the website continued to gain popularity receiving ever yet more traffic, ChapterCheats approached the Professional Services Team and discussed how Google Adwords was making fundamental changes to its program and how they wanted to upgrade their server to make sure that they would continue to derive income from the website. Eelco de Frankrijker explains, “We contacted Ken Nunes at Superb and talked about how best to go about making an upgrade. He suggested a front-end webserver with a back-end database server. We weren't entirely sure how to make it work, but Ken walked us through the changes, worked with us on the database changes, and after the servers were setup, continued to work with us on getting our database fine-tuned to be as efficient as possible. We were extremely grateful for all the work and effort everyone put in to help us out.”
